What is pipe adapter fitting?

Allan key head plug is one of the pipe adapter fittings. It can act as alternative connection; it is applied to terminate a piping system by stopping fluid movement. The head of the plug is Allan key head plug. Threaded end connections ease the installation process. It avoids leakage between the connections in general industries applications. Pipe adapters are made of high quality and durable materials.

Adapters are available in various types, sizes, materials, configurations and connection. It is resistance to high pressure as the maximum pressure in normal operation system is 420 bars (6000 PSI). However, external variables like flow velocity, O-ring material, and temperature de-rating factor must be taken into account. Fitting pressure will decrease to 331 bars when operating at a temperature of 400⁰C.

Adapters fitting are manufactured by forging stainless steel SS316 and carbon steel bar stock. The operating temperature range for the adapter fitting body material is specified, fittings with material of stainless steel SS316 is suitable to work at maximum temperature of 537◦c while material of carbon steel is 190°c.
