7706-W Water Colour Set
Watercolours consist of paint pigments suspended in a mixture of binder and additives. It is water-soluble. These can be in concentrated liquid form - normally supplied in tube form. Otherwise, they may be in the form of solid as in small cake of colours sitting in a tray or shallow box. In solid form, there will be many colours in a box. This is the norm in most cases as they are easy to pack and transport. Water is the solvent to use to thin or dilute the paint for application. Normally, a brush is used to apply these watercolours to paper as in the form of action called painting.
Watercolours are very transparent and they need to be applied to white paper or watercolour paper. Watercolour paper, due to absorbency issue, essentially lets the paint sit on top of the paper until it dries. One can control the shade of any colour by adjusting the amount of water on the brush before dipping in the colour cake and applying to the paper. Watercolour is easy to mix, simply dab some of the pigment onto a slick surface, then do the same with another pigment and then add it to the first pigment. Mix the two colours and there you have a new colour.
The 7706-W Water colour Set consists of 12 tubes of water colours, each 6ml in capacity, and packed in a paper box and shrink-wrapped. Final packing is another outer colourful box. Essentially, this is a starter set for beginners. There are basically only 12 colours. The paints have no lead in it, non-toxic, and are suitable for use by children as well. The product itself conforms to ASTM D4236 and EN71-3, the European Safety Standard. These are the basic essential items to start the beginners to do the painting and colouring. Watercolour paints can be used on watercolour paper, or white paper as long as they are not too absorbent. Sketch pad is one example for use with watercolour paints.
